Systems Engineering Interoperability Forum
Use case demonstration: transferring a system specification between two partners from a STEP file
The System Engineering Interoperability Forum (SE-IF) has produced its first use case demonstration video!
Interoperability Forum are privileged places where manufacturers and solution vendors can freely discuss the use cases for standards across the tools. They are innovative DO-TANK projects initiate within the AFNeT ecosystem.
The SE-IF is originated by AFIS and AFNeT at the end of 2019 with the aim provide the industry with a solution for sharing, exchanging and archiving systems engineering data based on the ISO STEP AP242 standard.
In this video, the use case involves transferring requirements between two partners using a STEP file. For this reason, the video is divided into two parts. In the first part, Partner A creates the specification in 3DExperience (from Dassault Systems). He then exports it as a STEP file before sending it to partner B. In the second part of the video, Partner B imports the contents of the file into Capella (from Thales).
The SE-IF is managed by AFNeT Services which is a consulting firm specializing in digital continuity and standards implementation. AFNeT Services Company, established in May 2004, is a venture that sprung off from the BoostAero experts that successfully developed and set up the international Aerospace and Defence e-supply chain standards.
From a functional point of view, AFNeT Services masters all the functions of the extended enterprise, digital continuity and multi-business collaboration across several domains: product lifecycle management and integrated product support, supply chain management, systems engineering and digital twins, and data and infrastructure management.
